We have named this area The Sevenoaks Weald because the area covers the
old wooded weald area around the town of Sevenoaks .
The area consists of old villages with many Elizabethan houses and Manors such as
Hever and Penshurst , and a number of modern villages which provide housing for
those people working in London , Sevenoaks , Maidstone , Tonbridge and Royal Tunbridge Wells .
These villages such as Rusthall , Langton Green , Paddock Wood and Chiddingstone Causeway
which were mostly constructed in the last 200 years contrast widely with the ancient
villages such as Chiddingstone and Speldhurst who have been settled for over 1000 years.
The western part of our map shows the villages from the northern edge of the Ashdown Forest
to the North Downs, which is mostly hilly and very pretty countryside.
The central region is covered by the Royal Tunbridge Wells to Tonbridge connurbation which
includes Southborough . To the north is the commuter town of Sevenoaks .
The eastern area spreads from the low hills to the south, across the rich farmlands near
Paddock Wood and East Peckham through to the hills in the north between Seal and
West Malling .
This area has a greater population than our other areas, mostly due to the proximity to
London and the M25, and the relatively fast train services into the capital.
